Book Review: It Is Finished

In It Is Finished, David Wilkerson seeks to show how you can "break free from the power of sin once and for all."

From the onset, the introduction makes it clear that this book is not for those who are complacent living in their sin.  This is for the believer that is fed up with sin and is actively seeking freedom.  Wilkerson's argument for finding this lasting freedom is in the knowledge of the covenant God has made with us in Jesus Christ.  He is very clear to outline that our feeble attempts at living a holy life will only leave us deflated.  Instead, we are to rely solely on the work accomplished at Calvary by Jesus Christ.

Not voicing his own opinions, Wilkerson heavily supports his points with the Scriptures.  His dissatisfaction in his own walk with the Lord led him to seek revelation from God's Word.  He urges believers to claim the promises of the covenant.  He warns the believers that this is by no means a "name it and claim it" business, but one of true devotion to seeking God in prayer, fasting, and the studying  of God's Word.

This is a fantastic read that should be on the shelves of every believer.  Whether your walk with the Lord has grown stagnant or is thriving, this book will provide useful information.  Each chapter contains a personal testimony from someone whose life was changed as a result of coming into true knowledge of God's covenant as well as discussion questions for further study.  This book is a rare jewel in which believers are encouraged to seek an abundant life through God's Word.

I received this book for free from Bethany House for this review.  This a Chosen book.
