Baby Advice

Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.
Proverbs 15:22

Since my sister, Sydney, is due this August 5th with baby girl #2, I thought it would be fun to give her a list of other mothers' best advice,  best product, and worst product.  Thanks to all the ladies who shared their thoughts on the subject with me.  I know that not everything works for everyone.  I trust that God will guide each of us on what works for each family according to His Word. Enjoy reading and be sure to add your own.

Best Advice:
1.  Never wake a sleeping baby, everything else can wait
2.  Breastfeed
3.  Burp after each feeding
4.  Enjoy every minute
5.  Let older siblings help
6.  Lay gassy babies on your lap face down and pat their bottoms
7.  Swaddle newborns
8.  Get baby on schedule
9.  Lots of cuddles
10.  Do what works for you

Best Product:
1. Nojo baby carrier
2.  Onesies
3.  baby carrier from
4.  bag dresses
5.  anything that serves more than one purpose
6.  baby swing
7.  Store bought diapers
8.  Fragrance and dye free detergent
9.  Natural baby food

Worst Product:
1. Dreft
2. Soy formula
3.  Expensive diapers
4.  Baby anything-make your own baby food, use ivory soap

  1. Wow, nice list! You gave the perfect advice. God Bless

  2. I have a few:

    1. Know from now that every baby is different so what worked for you with #1 will not necessarily work for #2

    2. sleep whenever you can, if hubby comes home from work and can stay with the baby for 1/2 whether it's 8pm take the nap

3.We are not super moms if the house is a little messy do what you can and anything else can be saved for tomorrow

    4. Enjoy the baby at every stage they grow soooo fast.

    5. You can wash baby's clothes with everyone else's you don't have to do a separate load for the baby

    6. Let daddy help even though he might not do it as well as we do..... sometimes they can surprise you and do things better than us.

    7. welcome advice with a nod and a smile, retain the good, ignore the bad

    1. Tide Original Powder detergent is great for everyone's clothes and you just need a little, has very little additives.

    2. Boppy pillow is great from breastfeeding to tummy time, to helping them prop up when they are learning to sit.

    3. Brest friend pillow is an even better breastfeeding pillow than the boppy but does not do as well with the other things mentioned in #2.

    4. Moby Wrap....I love mine you can use it in a variety of ways the only drawback is that it's too much fabric for the summer.

    5. Swaddle blankets......ever try to swaddle a baby at 3am while delusional???? this is the answer it comes prefolded, just add baby and wonderful for the first few months.

    6. Baby Magic products from Babies r Us huge portions for $5, I still have the lotion from when my son was born, he's 5 months and we bathe him daily....

    7. If using a traditional babybook is not for you in shuttefly and you can create baby books for cheap with your own info under the pics.... watch out for the great deals they offer also.

  3. Maria

Definetly enjoy every moment and see it as an opportunity to share your love and an experience to learn. they grow too fast.
Also pray for every situation and ask for God's wisdom.
Also be open for any good advice that would be usuful from other mothers.

    God Bless you

  4. What a wealth of information :)
I want to try the swaddler...I remember using a blanket to swaddle my oldest daughter when she was a baby and it would just not stay put.

I signed on with, and and they have sent me formula samples and coupons.

I do plan to breastfeed with the help of the Holy Spirit, but it's good to have an alternative on hand.
